The London Olympics are around the corner and some of you reading this may just be in situ to enjoy them. If you are looking for activities other than sport whilst in England and happen to be a wine lover too, then don’t feel you have to hop over the English channel to satisfy your wine travel lust. You can stay right there in England and be in for a treat, even on an easy day trip from London.

 

“Las Tortugas” that’s what Christopher Columbus first called three islands he spotted in the Caribbean Sea May 10, 1503. He recorded that the islands were “full of tortoises, as was the sea about, inasmuch as they looked like little rocks.” Turtles were so plentiful on the islands, that legend has it sailors avoided them, thinking they were haunted: Apparently, there were so many turtles along the shores and banks of the islands that from a distance the land appeared to be moving.

 

Iceland is a unique and exotic destination. Settled by Vikings thousands of years ago, the country is a natural treasure trove. She has weaved her way in and out of history, starting of course with the Viking settling, playing a small role in WWII (housing the British), and is also home to singer Bjork. Largely though, Iceland has been out of the way, isolated way up north.
