Learning More About our Neighbors Around the World

At ProjectExplorer.org, our New Year’s resolutions tend to involve the desire to learn more about our neighbors around the world. For example, did you know that in Bali, the New Year falls in March and is observed with a day of silence? Or, that, in France, they often eat la galette des Rois, a cake with a little trinket baked inside? He or she who finds the trinket gets to wear a crown and is named “king” for the day!

We encourage you to think back to some of the celebrations that were aired this last week and some of the iconic structures that proudly stand amidst the fireworks and lasers in each country’s incredible display of pride and tradition. There was the bridge in Sydney Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, Tapei 101, and, of course, the London Eye. This year, as we learn more about the countries and traditions of the world, perhaps these structures would be a great place to start!
