No Nonsense Travel Guide Books

NFT travel guide books are great for people who just what to know where things are.  Really a cross between a map and travel guide.  Very useful.

One of our partners, Not For Tourists, has several unique offerings on their website this week. Check out the following highlights...

If Proust's Madeleine Were A Twinkie, by Rebecca Katherine Hirsch

Peter's
Let it be known: I like my bodegas like I like my dark corridors (my vestments, and my men): Used, sooty and resonant (and redolent) of times quondam. Fitzgerald may have said that nostalgia is a limbo land leading nowhere and Luc Sante may have railed to the heavens that nostalgia is an inarticulate longing for the past and hatred of the present but Peter and his gloriously anachronistic bodega know what's going on.

No Phone, by Craig Nelson

Lucy's
Ah, the classic dive bar. The smell. The sticky floor. The gritty patrons. The disgusting bathroom. It all ads up to one of the most incredible experiences on the face of the planet.

So Much More Than We Deserve, by Rebecca Katherine Hirsch

Watson Adventures
Onward ho! The Watson Adventures scavenger hunts are the kind of hunts a man can be proud of.

---

The Magic of Muji
, by Craig Nelson

Muji
Thank you Japan for giving us another reason to head to Midtown (not that we don't love hanging out at Port Authority).

---

Here I Go Again, by Karen Clements

Mama Maria's Pizzeria Restaurant
In an area rife with Caribbean cuisine, Mama Maria's is a rare find.

Check out their website - they have free downloadable guides, maps, gear, and of course, the travel guide books. Not to mention, they are pretty funny people. I am always laughing when I visit their site, or read their newsletter.

Not For Tourists has offered a coupon for Wandering Educators - please use the coupon code: WE for a 10% discount.
