Foodie Finds: Best Pizza in Minneapolis

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten is a special pizza place in St. Paul, Punch Neapolitan Pizza. Now Punch has expanded to 6 Twin Cities locations!

Punch's website notes:
There isn’t a place in the world where pizza is more ingrained in the culture than Naples. It is, after all, where pizza was born. That includes firing your pizza in a wood-burning oven to a blistering 800 degrees. Punch utilizes the same centuries-old techniques that Neapolitan masters use to create a truly authentic pizza. The world’s finest San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and top-secret dough form the foundation of the pizza, but the true craft is in mastering the wood fired oven.

Punch Pizza, St Paul

What is so special about Punch Wood-fired pizzas is the wood-firing. Cooked in an extremely hot oven, the crust develops delicious dough blisters, sometimes flame-blackened. Fresh tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and delicious toppings all combine to make a taste sensation. WOW. It is incredible! The toppings are so fresh and delicious. You'll find yourself angling for the best pieces with the dough blisters.

I'd been talking about Punch Pizza for a while to our daughter, and when we visited the Twin Cities this spring, we braved a rainstorm to head to Punch. One bite, and she was hooked. Fun paintings on the walls, yummy Italian mints, and hidden things to see (cat above the oven beam) made the short wait go even faster.

We LOVE Punch pizza - I'm sure you will, too!
