Medieval Christmas Traditions that Made it into Contemporary Celebrations

When we think of Medieval times, it’s such a distant era that aside from Robin Hood and Knights in shiny armor, we don’t think we inherited much from it. But so many of the things we take for granted today, from familiar sayings (“it’s raining cats and dogs”), traditions (June weddings with brides wearing a veil and carrying bouquets of flowers), food (humble and minced pies, Christmas pudding) to heartwarming Christmas traditions we hold dear and love.

In this Christmas special episode of the “12 Tidbits of Christmas”, we take a trip through time and visit some of our most treasured Christmas traditions that have roots in medieval times and beyond. From Christmas trees to the real St Nick, I invite you to come along with me on this short journey of Christmases past.
