Every Least Sparrow: A Girl Grows Her Wings

Garn Press is pleased to announce the release of Every Least Sparrow, by Carolyn Walker. Walker’s memoir tells the story of her daughter, Jennifer, who has Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome, a rare disorder that affects not only her appearance, but nearly every one of her body functions, as well as her IQ.

Undefeated: The Story of Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry

There are a few things that Michiganders know, growing up. One is the beauty of a Michigan winter (good thing, because it is very snowy and cold!). Second is the incredible landscape we live in, from beaches to mountains, city to rural, and even a few islands thrown in. Another is our strong work ethic – arising from our northern European ancestors, and strengthened through winter and landscape. We honor this work ethic here, in a variety of ways.

Halloween Memories and Donut Muffins

Snowflakes and jack-o’-lanterns. Growing up in Colorado, the two went hand in hand. The first snowfall of the season usually rolled over the mountains to coat my neighborhood just in time for October 31st. Deciding on a costume was a matter of what looked good over a poofy jacket and paired with my purple and white striped moon boots.

Cooking with Kids: The Around the World Cookbook

We have a 6-year old daughter, and she just loves to cook. I am always on the lookout for excellent kids cookbooks - ones that teach, besides having quality recipes. Too often, kids cookbooks contain recipes for food that just isn't healthy - promoting blue frosting, or coloring your macaroni and cheese red. YIKES!
