I'm a Michigander through and through. Born here, I travel and move away and then always seem to come back home. It must be something in the water! And, I'm always looking for great Michigan books and products to share.
I cringe when folks seemingly go around the world to take pictures of themselves- sometimes in cringe worthy outfits ....then write:
Here's US posing (in these horrendous outfits we put together just for this trip) at The Coliseum, here's us Posing at the Louvre....
We discovered a great guest house in Trang, Thailand. It’s just a few years old and hasn’t really been discovered yet. It’s perfect for families!
Since its conception, Star Trek has been a source of revolution. It has been said that it predicted the future, but really, Star Trek created it. Flip phones have their roots in the original series communicators. Although the iPad has built their image as the first tablet, tablets were first conceived for the set of the Enterprise.
Despite blizzards and Arctic blasts, nature hasn’t deserted us. An “irruption” of snowy owls has produced sightings on refuges as far south as Florida. Eagle watchers are checking refuge nests for new chicks. Forays into snow-covered refuges reveal tracks of deer, rabbit, and otter.
Greece: the land of the Gods, so rich in history that you can scarcely turn around without bumping into something extraordinary. As with many famous places, we feel as if we know the place before we even step foot there! But what about the reality of living in Greece today? It’s a land of contrasts, for sure.
It’s that time of year again. Time to bring out the firecrackers and red envelopes, clean out the house, and reunite with family. That’s right—it’s Chinese New Year!

Love to ski? I am sure Breckenridge, Colorado, is on your to-ski list! It’s one of the most popular ski towns in Colorado – and for good reason. There are many peaks from which to ski (or snowboard) here. Breckenridge has a lift capacity (in 34 lifts and a gondola) of 42,880 people per hour! There are over 600 acres groomed daily, and 187 trails.
One of the best ways to travel, I think, is to live like locals.
