Running half-heartedly during weekdays, but blooming into a crowded clamour of unintelligible trader shouts every Sunday morning, it is absurdly cheap.

Breakfast is without a doubt, the new lunch. The only problem is, in England, the fried breakfast is king--not such good news for faddy dieters; hold the oil, no bread, cut the fat off the bacon. Puh-lease. Mess, however, does such a good job of the Full Monty (please don't pick me up on the criteria for a real Full Monty, you English breakfastophiles) that you don't feel naughty indulging in a cooked breakfast any day of the week.

According to recent scientific research, a good blueberry pancake can cause a religious-seeming ecstasy, rolling of the eyeballs and whoops of joy. Of course, this only happens if the pancakes in question are fine specimens; thick and fluffy, graced with golden brown swirls, scattered with the dark blue berries and drenched in sweet maple syrup. I've tasted them. I know.

Okay, don't come here if you don't like kids, but if you do (or even have them), Hackney's popular inner-city farm is a great place for breakfast. Where else can you claim that the eggs on your plate come courtesy of the hens hopping around in front of the door?
