Royal BC Museum summer campers gear up for adventure
VICTORIA, BC – Kids will channel their inner Indiana Jones this summer at a week-long Royal BC Museum (RBCM) day camp, packed with exploration and discovery.
Camp Treasures, one of the special programs designed to accompany the feature exhibition Treasures: The World’s Cultures from the British Museum, offers kids a behind-the-scenes look at the RBCM. Campers will explore museum galleries and collections, get lessons on mummy-wrapping and learn secrets from RBCM staff.
“There’s so much more to the Royal BC Museum than what first meets the eye,” says RBCM CEO Pauline Rafferty. “For starters, many of our curators are worldwide experts in their field and the museum houses more than seven million artifacts, specimens and archival records. Camp Treasures is a great way for today’s youth to discover some extraordinary things at their provincial museum.”
Designed for kids aged 8 - 12, Camp Treasures is offered on three different weeks: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (July 13 - 17, July 27 - 31 and Aug. 10 - 14).
