One of the most respected travel guidebook publishers, Frommer's, has a new line of guidebooks under the Pauline Frommer imprint. The Pauline Frommer line is a hallmark of new budget travel - inexpensive, local, and authentic experiences.

Pauline Frommer's Cancun and The Yucatan: Spend Less and See More is authored by Christine Delsol, and she sure knows her stuff.

I have to admit, I have never longed to go to Cancun and the Yucatan - until now. This guidebook is so incredibly detailed, including history, culture, food, and activities, that I can't imagine NOT traveling there!

Especially impressive is the wide range of prices for all things listed in the guidebook - from hotels, to restaurants, to dolphin swims and dive tours. Each entry is quite detailed, with hints as to the owners experience and different things to consider (handicap accessibility, traveling with kids, etc.).

Illustrated with detailed maps, the book is divided geographically into Cancun, Las Islas, the Riviera Maya, Merida, Yucatan State, and Campeche. There are also Best of sections, essentials of planning, and useful terms and phrases in both Spanish and Mayan.

Of special interest to divers and snorkelers is a detailed list of recommended dive operators, including the quirks and offerings of each one. It made me long to get in the water again, and go deep to see the gorgeous scenery below the sea in and around Cancun.

There are also quite extensive history sections, and ideas for ruins to visit. There are plenty of hidden treasures, and excellent synopses of cities, restaurants, hotels, and more.  From a traveler's perspective, this guidebook is an incredible find.

Climbing a Mayan Pyramid

The Mayan culture was an amazing advanced society. I have not been there, but definitely would like to go and climb a Mayan Pyramid. Mabe get some clues from the past and to the future! Not to mention the fabulous beaches and colorful fish. This guide sounds like the one to have.

Cancun Beyond Tourist

This doesn't sound like your normal tourist guide to Cancun at all.  Much more than the typical week long vacation to this popular tourist destination.
