Gathering Spring Water

Doesn’t everyone love a fresh glass of water?

I live in my home community, Mattagami First Nation, with my family; we prefer to filter tap water before drinking it. We also avoid buying bottled water to limit our plastic waste.

Watery Inspiration

I live in a town of 700 people in rural Central Maine. A few miles from me there’s a hill where you can look down into a working gravel and sand pit and see a circle of water. That’s a kettle hole pond, a neighbor told me once when we passed it. It’s very deep and there’s no inlet and no outlet, he said. I’d never heard of the term kettle hole, but his words stuck in my brain. There was something mysterious and evocative about them.

Under the Mediterranean

You’re at a beach in southern Spain, you can smell the salty summer air. After walking across the hot sand and stones, you can’t wait to take a dip in the sea. It’s a hot day, and everyone's having a great time playing in the water...so you decide to partake in the fun.

It’s pretty sexy these days to rally around the clean water for all movement. There has been a lot of money invested in marketing and “awareness.”
