Read This: Beauty, Poetry, and Lived Experience in Agora

I've got a beautiful, important read to share with you today. Agora, by Gretchen Gales, with imagery by Christine Stoddard, is a phenomenological chapbook of poetry that meanders city streets while sharing the lived experience of agoraphobia.

A Must-Read Book That Will Bring Such Joy: And the Clouds Parted

If you are lucky, you discover a book you didn't know you absolutely needed. Such is the case with a new book by one of our favorite writers, Gabrielle Yetter.

Her new collection of poetry, And the Clouds Parted, is gorgeous, both in word and illustration.

Read this: Alexis V. Jackson's extraordinary voice shines in My Sisters' Country

If we're lucky, throughout our lives, a few books come along that will change us. Such is the case with a new book of poetry by Alexis V. Jackson.

My Sisters' Country is incredibly beautiful, evocative, and, through its phenomenological approach, teaches us much about the lived experience of black women.

Art, Memories, and Poetry: La Bolsa–The Purse

I’ve recently been lucky enough to pore over a gorgeous book filled with art, memories, and poetry. La Bolsa–The Purse was written and illustrated by one of our featured artists, Sonya Gonzalez. Of all the beautiful, bilingual poems and paintings, my favorite is Pasteles con amor-Pies made with love. It’s gorgeous, loving, and delicious.

How Nature Can Answer the Problems of Human Experiences: Escapism: Words + Photos

When I first heard of the book Escapism: Words + Photos, by Candice Lee, I was excited. Nature plus poetry plus lived experience? YES! Then the book came in the mail, and I opened it and happily dug in.
