Read this: Alexis V. Jackson's extraordinary voice shines in My Sisters' Country

If we're lucky, throughout our lives, a few books come along that will change us. Such is the case with a new book of poetry by Alexis V. Jackson.

My Sisters' Country is incredibly beautiful, evocative, and, through its phenomenological approach, teaches us much about the lived experience of black women.

The Power of Music to Connect Across Place and Time

As changes occur across all areas of life, and across all regions of the word, music continues to offer ways to think about events, seek inspiration, and at times take a break to refresh from challenges.

That's true of the music in this episode. We'll celebrate the work of an award-winning musician, remember the passing of another, consider the power of music to connect across place and time, enjoy a quiet time along the road, and celebrate the change of seasons.

Innovation: Turkish Coffee Tales of Anatolia
Documentary Premieres in Los Angeles with the “Greatest Micro Art Show on Earth”

Note to our Wandering Educators: I'm SO pleased to share this extraordinary work from one of my very favorite people in the world, the Turkish Coffee Lady herself: Gizem Şalcıgil White. While in Turkey, she taught me about Turkish coffee..and Turkish hospitality. She's changing the world, one connection (and coffee!) at a time.

Watery Inspiration

I live in a town of 700 people in rural Central Maine. A few miles from me there’s a hill where you can look down into a working gravel and sand pit and see a circle of water. That’s a kettle hole pond, a neighbor told me once when we passed it. It’s very deep and there’s no inlet and no outlet, he said. I’d never heard of the term kettle hole, but his words stuck in my brain. There was something mysterious and evocative about them.
